Text Box: Hi and again, Welcome to my candle business, personal web site. My name is Jean Patton and I’d love to share a little about myself with you. I have worked from home now for five years while running my home based candle business now since May, 2004. I call it Mike and my Candle Retirement Plan. In order for me to represent a company or product, I have quite a few requirements that need to qualify and meet my “essential needs” check list. First, I tend to lean more toward the high-end product lines. So I won’t even consider lower quality products. It’s not worth my time, money, my name and I will only promote something that I, myself, will be using. I want to make money, but quality comes first. A few years back, I was with another marketing company were the products were top of the line, however, I “had” to have stock on-hand, “had” to meet a monthly purchase requirement and attend training at a designated location. Too many “requirements” which made me feel that I was not “in control”. Now, after working a full day and worrying about child care for the 3 to 4 hours to attend did not last long for me. There just was no fun involved. Selling candles, for me, is a no-brainer. I mean, really, who can’t sell a candle? Right? Simple! Strike a match and light the wick. The rest is up to your customer as far as their fragrance preference. Plus, there aren’t too many places that you can receive “real” quality and receive the prices you receive - retail or wholesale. For the most part, I’ve chosen to take my business online. I retail our products locally individually and I’ve just this year started making gift baskets that I really enjoy doing. I offer our wholesale program to anyone interested and the fund-raising I’m just getting starting with. You can read more about that in the right hand column on this page. And, setting up Mike and my “Candle Retirement Plan”, I continue to build my already growing team. Our “other” business is a painting business that Mike has had for almost 25 years. Yes, I have been out there with him from time to time and I actually enjoy it. Mostly though, I’m here playing with my web site, creating proposals, invoices or taking phone messages and I love it. I’ve “been there & done that” with the 9 to 5 thing outside the home and I’ll take this any day. <big smile> The training that our team and company offer on a daily and ongoing basis has been nothing less than phenomenal. The level of team members’ sharing of their own personal expertise , skills and creativity on running a home business is definitely above and beyond anything I’ve experienced before.
